Ribamontán al Mar is a small municipal district made up of Somo, Loredo, Langre, Galizano, Carriazo, Castanedo and Suesa. It is located to the south of Santander Bay on an ample green pastures that are defined by the River Miera, leafy forests to the south and the Cantabrian Sea to the north. |

The municipal district is blessed with a rich and varied artistic heritage, in which two religious buildings stand out: the Sanctuary of Our Lady, Señora de Latas in Loredo, and the parochial church, Santa Eulalia in Suesa.
Among the laic buildings of note, you should visit: the Marquis of Valbuena’s mansion and the Campo Velasco, Pontón and Calderón de la Barca mansions in Galizano.
From a gastronomic viewpoint, Ribamontán al Mar will win you over with its delicious grilled fish barbeques.

Beyond its art and cuisine, the community invites you to try surfing and windsurfing at Somo Beach and the Derby at Loredo hippodrome is not to be missed in the summer season.
Ribamontán al Mar is doted with stunning beaches, each of them unique – you will find endless stretches of sand and hidden-away coves: Somo-Loredo Beach is over 7km long of fine, soft sands including the spit... Langre Beach is considered one of the most beautiful in Cantabria, or visit the secluded, calm coves of Arenillas, La Canelema, La Canal and Los Tranquilos...

It is 36 kilometres squared, with a population of 3,700 (but closer to 10,000 in the summer) divided into 7 local neighbourhood committees. |
